如何表達關(guān)心和勸告

朋友生病了，你一定會(huì )說(shuō)“你發(fā)燒了，一定要好好休息，多喝水“，以表示關(guān)心。同樣的情況下，如果你對外國朋友說(shuō)：Oh, you are having a fever. You must take a good rest and drink plenty of water.對方不會(huì )覺(jué)得你是關(guān)心他，會(huì )認為你的話(huà)完全是多余的，心里很可能想：I surely know what I should or should not do in this situation. I am not a kid.
朋友不舒服時(shí)，中國人還會(huì )進(jìn)一步勸他去看醫生，如果你對外國朋友也這樣說(shuō)：You'd better go and see a doctor.效果更不好，因為除非是用在非常熟的朋友之間，you'd better常含有“否則后果自負，出了事別怪我”的意思。(比如：You'd better work harder, or you'll fail in the exam.你要再不用功點(diǎn)，考試會(huì )不及格的。)
就是要勸，最好換一下語(yǔ)氣，可以這樣說(shuō)：I think you need，and see doctor.或I would advise you to see a doctor.(后面還可以加上if you ask me，使語(yǔ)氣更婉轉。)也可以改用問(wèn)句：Do you think it would be better / it's a good idea for you to go and see a doctor?用否定式問(wèn)句(修辭問(wèn)句)語(yǔ)氣很重，容不得對方不同意：Don't you think you need see a doctor?所以表達時(shí)也要慎重。當然還可以換個(gè)角度說(shuō)：If I were you，I'd，and see a doctor.對方一定會(huì )欣然接受你的建議。
說(shuō)到“關(guān)心”，翻譯時(shí)要注意用詞，因為中文“關(guān)心”可以表示不同的意思。
本文所說(shuō)的“關(guān)心”主要指“關(guān)懷”的意思，確切說(shuō)，英文是show solicitude / care / concern for。其中Solicitude一詞比較正式，尤其指上級對下級的關(guān)心，如：”The Party showed great solicitude for the people in disaster area.(黨對災區人民表示極大的關(guān)懷。)Concern和care比較常用(concern含有“擔心”的意思)，如：She showed meticulous concern/care for the homeless children.(她對無(wú)家可歸的孩子們無(wú)微不至地關(guān)懷。)也可以說(shuō)show loving concern/care for。當然關(guān)心還有其他的意思，這里我們就不一一加以說(shuō)明了。
